7 Ways to Improve Your Mindset, Raise Your Vibration and Make Better Music in 2023

Woman sitting in the forest in a meditation position as rays of sunlight surround her.

Every day in my sessions, well known and emerging/aspiring musicians, and singers alike – they come for vocal help or help with all of the pieces of growing their music in the world – songwriting, artist development, branding, and business. Over some 30+ years of being in the trenches with them, and being one myself, it’s the pieces of mindset that I find often help the most.

In a business where you have to spend 10-15 years even becoming a viable contender, let alone whether you will ever make a living at it — on top of a significant investment upwards of $10-50k+ — on top of dealing with rejection and exposing your emotions for a living, your mindset is what you need to rely upon to help you achieve your goals and dreams.

Here are my top 7 tips to Improve Your Mindset, Raise Your Vibration and Make Even Better Music in 2023.

1. Awareness

Number one, stop beating yourself up when you fall into negative thinking. The key is awareness. Awareness that it’s happening, regardless of whether you can pull yourself out it in the moment, is the first step to getting your clarity and energy back.

2. Your thoughts

Improving your mindset starts with developing habits that can help you raise your vibration making it easier to stay in a positive mindset and perspective. There is nothing wrong with you when you fall into negative thinking. There is a lot of fear and chaos in the world and it’s impossible to steer clear of it completely. Our society is still trapped in polarity and division—we have a lot of work to do.

It goes back to awareness. If you can catch your thoughts, you can start to make a choice about what you are thinking about.  When we are unconscious to our thoughts we are at the effect of them.

Start by noticing when you are thinking negatively. Just that one thing alone will help turn around your negative thoughts and turn your mindset into a more positive one.

3. Your words

Words are power. They either help or hurt. What you say is what you will manifest. Use your words to assist you in drawing the life you want to you.

When I was studying to become a Four Agreements Facilitator, one of the Four Agreements is to be Impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.

Replace “I can’t” with “I will”. Replace “I don’t know” with “I’m looking forward to learning more”. Replace “it’s impossible” with “It’s possible and I look forward to manifesting this!”.

Remove “should” and “can’t” from your vocabulary. Stop complaining and start reinforcing what you want to happen by inviting it in through your words.

4. Sound vibration

Sound vibrations heal. Sound and song can uplift spirits, strengthen our immune system, and assist those suffering from an array of chronic or debilitating diseases. It can instantly shift our mindset.

Listen to high vibrational positive music. Here are some of my go-to’s.

In addition, my record, The Circle of Fire / Cari Cole is made with the positive vibrations of love and light.

Music helps you to raise your vibration. The act of singing alone raises your vibration. Vocalizing is like meditating. It stops your mind and you are in the present moment without your monkey brain jumping up and down. So as a musician you can check off that box! But fill your room with these magical soundwaves of 432 or 528 hz and feel instantly elevated!

5. Lifestyle choices

Lifestyle affects vibration and mindset. If you are eating a junk diet you’ll feel like crap. Food has energy in it. It either helps or hurts. If you are thinking negatively about yourself or others, it will lower your vibration and draw unwanted energies to you. If you aren’t taking care of your body, your body will let you know with dis-ease or feeling unwell.

Some tips if you want to improve this aread.

Try eating a lighter healthier diet. Add one green juice and one salad to the daily menu. Juicing allows you to get more nutrients which we all need since our soil is depleted.

Limit alcohol. Drink more water. Water gives you more energy!

Get sunlight. Take walks. Sunshine restore mitochondria and improves disposition.

Detox from the chemicals in our environment. We are overloaded with chemicals in our food, air and water. We all have to detox regularly to feel well. Sweat and take saunas to help eliminate toxins.

6. Your music

Your unique creative expression and gift is your music. Your job is to fully align with it and live it 24/7. No matter what is happening around you – always play your music.

And do your music because it fulfills you – because you love to do it. Be in the act of making your music daily. Then as you do that, there is a natural desire to share it with the world. Don’t let your mind get sucked into the negative chatter around the music business. That isn’t where you create from. Stay focused on your music and remember that miracles happen when you love what you do.

I heard a voice one day say to me (in my mind) – “Do everything with love”. It has stuck with me. I’m still working on it as I remember to. It will raise your vibration and instantly change your mindset.

When I studied with don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements, he says, there are two tracks in life. Love and fear. Both are present all the time. Which voice are you going to listen to? Which voice are you going to feed?

7. Your music mindset

You are a spiritual being having a human experience. Stay in touch with your bliss. What lights you up. Remember that you chose to come into this life to make a difference—to bring your music and art to the world. To live your purpose. Wake up excited to live your purpose. When you become more conscious of this in your daily life, your music will lead you to exactly what you need to do and where you need to be. Keep your heart open, and keep listening and growing. And listen to your heart. Your heart has a positive impact on everything around you and when you are in alignment with it miracles happen.
