Singers are athletes of the small muscles of the voice + breathing. Improving your singing voice is an athletic and physical foundation. A singer can only go as far as their voice can carry them.
The vocal instrument is a miraculous machine. Learn how to give it the right methods and you can progress far beyond what you can imagine. If I can do it, so can you! When I was seeking to improve my voice I was singing in a rock band in New York. This was the first time I had to sing with more power and I started losing my voice. I sought out training and once I found the right one, I was able to achieve way beyond what I imagined with my voice.
In addition, many singers are struggling with vocal weakness having been off stage for the past few years.
I’ve got a great master vocal technique (the one that helped me) and an opportunity for you to join us and that will get you on the road to where you want to be get you back in the shape to feel confident performing in just 3 short months.

Building a voice you can count on requires 3 things:
1: A professional vocal technique that can take you all the way there. You need a vocal technique that is more than la la la and mi mi mi! Those don’t really do much. You need a technique that understands the physical mechanics of the voice and breathing and exactly how to improve vocal production. Our Cole Vocal Method that I teach in my Vocal Freedom Circle does just that. It is a robust method that builds a strong and undeniably good singing voice using specific sophisticated techniques that make the singer stronger. Singers of all styles and all genres can use this technique because it doesn’t alter your style – it just makes you stronger. Like an athlete training with an Olympic coach to help them improve performance and stamina.
2: Musicianship. Having a strong musical ear with good scale development is paramount. Learning the scales (major, minor, pentatonic etc) alongside interval studies help singers improve the transitions and jumps between notes improving performance. Also important is an ability to improvise and develop your own sound. In our Vocal Freedom Circle we explore all of these elements as well as how to improve your phrasing and style with vocal arranging techniques used by professional vocal producers and arrangers.
3: Emotion: The number one goal of many singers is the ability to move audiences. Singing with more emotion helps singers connect more deeply with your material and CONNECT to your audience. Within The Vocal Freedom Circle we teach how to sing with more emotion.
All 3 elements are critical to be able to sing well and move your audience.
Each of these 3 pillars are a cornerstone of building a voice that you can count on — but I would say that the FIRST and FOREMOST of these is technique. Because without the physical voice having the right technique to be able to hit those high notes, no amount of wishing or hoping will make it happen!
The Cole Vocal Method taught in The Vocal Freedom Circle is a method that includes warmup, cool down, voice building, vocal therapy for days when you are struggling as well as a complete understanding of the breath and how to use it – we also do mental exercises used by Olympic athletes to help improve performance and battle performance anxiety. Taking care of your body and training your voice are paramount to building a strong and undeniably good voice.
My Top 5 Secrets to Improve Your Singing Voice to build a strong and undeniably good voice are:
1. Hydration.
The voice is made up of 80% water. Dehydration will inhibit high notes and cause issues with “the break” and register shifts and make transitions between notes bumpy and a bit rough. There are many ways to get more hydration.
- Drinking more water is helpful (6-8 glasses a day).
- Eat foods with a high water content: green juice, fresh salad + brothy soups.
- Steam! Steaming brings moisture right to the vocal folds. Steam 2-3x a day, 1-2 days prior to a performance to experience the difference!
2. Manage vocal issues.
Manage potential vocal issues that can arise that cause problems with the voice. Vocal strain and issues like allergies and reflux can inhibit vocal performance significantly.
Vocal strain means you are over-using the throat muscles, might have some bad technique issues causing you to rub your cord together which all can be fixed.
Allergies and reflux usually go together and are a sign of bad gut health. Improve your gut health and these things dissipate and go away entirely. Learn what causes them in our Vocal Resource Library or come hear me lay out all of the latest remedies and modalities in The Vocal Freedom Circle in my Vocal Health Class. See the full curriculum here.
3. Sleep = Vocal Restoration
Sleep is extremely important for the voice to function and perform well. Sleep is how you stay healthy and keep your energy high. Vocal performances require a good amount of energy! My top sleep aide besides melatonin and herbal sleep aides, is to get yourself a grounding sheet which mimics the feeling of lying on the earth. The earth emits negative ions which help you rest and recover.
