The Devil Is In The Details

By Cari Cole

You’ve heard it said that the devil’s in the details? Darn if it ain’t true.

Greatness, genius, brilliant marketing or monumental momentum – all have one thing in common – details. Success may seem to be stumbled upon, but I assure you it’s not. It’s often the tiniest most intricate details that are integral to the success of any project and especially when it comes to a new artist breaking through.

Problem is, with too many to-do’s on our plates these days, it’s virtually impossible to catch them all. Worse yet, things change so fast, it’s hard to keep up. But today, we can’t sit around – we gotta go out and get it.

Thing is, the internet gave us all a great option – to have creative control over our music. But it gave us a huge obstacle getting out there. What was once coordinated by a team of experts in their designated fields isnow coordinated by one or two people who are not experts, but who are trying to do it all.

That’s why I spent the past few years, rolling up my sleeves and doing some serious research with my team, writing and developing what we think is a sure-fire blueprint to rock the independent world (our Alumni seem to think so too – read here). We were just called the P90X of music marketing programs.

Point is it’s like songwriting or becoming a musician. In order to be great, you have to know the science behind it. And while you have to know the breadth of it, you shouldn’t try to apply it all. Remember those god awful songwriting classes when you wrote your worst stuff? The goal is to take what works for you and leave the rest. But, you’ve still got to sit there and listen to it all to find the nuggets that make your writing better.

The problem is when you get sidetracked by all the hoopla of marketing noise out there that you have really ought not to be following because it’s doesn’t fit you or your music, you won’t succeed following trends – you’ve got to find what aligns with you to be effective.

So we decided to do it for you. We siphoned the nuggets and show you the best way to create a strategy that fits you and your music.

The result? Better success. Listen and watch here how Alumni have seriously up-leveled their careers by aligning their strategies with who they are.

Here is a sample of a worksheet from our Fast Forward program.

We only launch 1x a year and this is it for 2014. Next launch is August 2015.

Thanks to everyone who’s been a part of this journey, my amazing team and the hundreds of Alumni. It’s been an incredibly

satisfying journey to see so many artists start to fly and there is so much more to come.

Are you a grad? Post how Fast Forward helped your music?
