Are You Out Of Touch?

by Cari Cole

What makes Lady Gaga – Lady Gaga? What makes Diane Birch – Diane Birch? What makes John Mayer – John Mayer … and on and on…

It’s a common perception to think that a star puts ON a character rather than becomes a bigger (& more extreme) version of themselves. I’m in the middle of writing my Week Three Step Up Program and this week is all about Stepping Up Your Brand .. which is really the YOU that the WORLD sees. (Some musicians have trouble with that word “brand” … if that’s you – just think “persona”, or “presence” instead).

I once heard Clive Davis say something along the lines that making a star “more comfortable in their own skin” was the key to helping them step into their greatness. Nothing is more true.

Becoming more YOU is what it’s really all about. Let people see your quirks and weirdness ~ it’s the only shot you have at being great. List three things that are YOU and let people see you more this week.. who knows — you might find a gem there..

“When one is out of touch with oneself, one cannot touch others”. Anne Lindbergh
