Are you a people pleaser?
Do you shrink around others to make them more comfortable?
What is your deepest fear? Do you know?
I love what author Marianne Williamson says in her book “Return to Love” about fear – it has resonated for me throughout the decades as one of the most powerful quotes about fear I’ve ever heard.
She says: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It’s our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us,” Marianne Williamson.
We tend to shrink around others so they are not insecure around us. Artists have to move through that and have to realize they’re doing that – become aware – conscious of that voice in their heads that says “who am I to be brilliant, talented, fabulous?” But, Marianne says, “Who are you not to be?”
If we are indeed afraid that we are powerful beyond measure, then I say, game on! Come on! How fabulous and talented can you be? Let’s play.
Assignment
For one solid week try to be as fabulous and talented as you can possibly be. Whenever anyone asks you to sing or to perform or to just be there for them — do not shrink from the request — matter of fact — do it as fabulously as you can. Step up more than you usually do — even if you are afraid — just reach inside and grab yourself by your proverbial ass (yep I said that) and give it your all .. do like an Olympian — give it your ALL. Sound good? Cool!
Find out what happens to you when you really don’t hold back and you give your all, it’s just for one week. And if you are so inspired, let me know how it goes.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
