Went out to a benefit concert for Haiti at City Winery the other night with one of my dearest friends. Among the amazing talent, my student Kailin Garrity sang backup with singer-songwriter Martin Rivas — they were awesome ;D. Up on stage 20 NYC artists poured out their souls raising money for those less fortunate – righteous! What a great job to have? Are they famous? Well they may not be household names yet, but they are on their path. You could say they are on path to what I call their “true north”. Martha Beck calls it “Finding your North Star” in her recent book (If ya don’t have it yet -be sure to pick it up).
Your “true north” — it’s about getting on your path to your bliss and staying the course – no matter what. It’s about doing what you came here to do. Are you on course for your true north? You’ll know because it’s what you want more than anything else. If you are reading this, chances are your true north is shouting out at you. Don’t settle for anything other than what your heart calls out for and I promise you will live a life made of gold.
This week, continually answer the question –
“Am I following my true north?”
See if by the end of the week you say yes more?!
I’m looking forward to this year that already has blown me away with it’s rawness and richness. While I am plowing ahead with vim and vigor, setting goals and making plans, I am setting a course for my true north. After all, I see it in those I love.
