5 Secrets to Build a Wildly Successful and Sustainable Career in Music in 2023

What would it feel like to be performing to thousands of people singing the words to your songs and supporting your career by the end of this year? Come join me and find out how!

True fans are the ones who believe in you. Your music has rescued them from some dark places. That’s an intimate kind of thing. They feel close to you. And being close to you makes them feel connected to themselves. They listen to your music, share your music, they come to every show, to your Livestreams and buy all of your stuff and they are the biggest supporters of your music. They provide the sustenance that allows you to make your music and continue to be the musician you’ve dreamed of being.

So how do you build your list of true fans? That is the million dollar question.

Here are my 5 Secrets to help you Build a Wildly Successful and Sustainable Career in Music building your list of 1000 true fans:

1. An Exceptional Album

You need an album, not a single.

Not an EP under 5 songs.

You need an album of 7-10+ songs to get in the game and stay there.

Big artists release albums for a reason.

Stop playing around and caving to the pressure of social media giving you FOMO.

You are an ARTIST.

An artist pulls inspiration from the void and turns it into art.

You need time to hide away in your cave and make something worthy.

Know what you want – figure out how to get it.

Make it something you would fight for.

2. Stop Doubting Yourself

Stop wondering if you’re cut out for it.

And stop doubting yourself.

You know how you know you were born for a music career?

You’re reading this.

You were born to be an artist for a reason.

To change the world.

Let’s always lead with that?

Now, start stepping into it – fully.

No Plan B.

3. Give Yourself Permission

You have a permission slip.

From me.

To be yourself – fully.

The only way you’re going to get to the great stuff, is if you stop editing yourself.

Create first, edit later.

For the next month, give yourself full permission to create and see where it takes you.

No judgement – just exploration.

4. Get Vulnerable

Nick Cave says the question he asks himself at the top of every songwriting session is “what is the most vulnerable thing I can say right now?”.

Vulnerability is your superpower.

Nurture it.

Bow to it.

Encourage it.

It’s not encouraged in the world.

Actually we are conditioned into the opposite.

To cover ourselves. Be more vulnerable in your writing.

Music rescues people, how can you rescue anyone if you can’t go there?

5. Make an Album You Would Right For

Nothing great is ever created from staying safe.

Take a risk.

Write an album that you would fight for.

Nothing less.

You can do it.

I’ve never met an artist that couldn’t.

But you’re going to have to learn how to focus.

And say “no” to a lot of stuff.

Send it to me when you have something.
